1. Junior School Chef

We look for passionate and creative individuals who are eager to bring in their diverse perspectives and experiences to develop innovators and leaders who will shape the African Century.

As a Junior School chef, you will be responsible for running an efficient kitchen producing a diversity of menus and good, nutritional food for our students, take the role of duty cook as required which involves taking charge of the kitchen work within an agreed food budget and maintain kitchen safety and hygiene.

Function: School

You will be based in our Ondiri or Tatu Campus

Reports To: Head Chef

How will your day to day at Nova look like?
  • Preparation of menus relevant to a school setting
  • Ensuring the correct storage and disposal of foodstuffs
  • Participating in the training offered to the kitchen staff
  • Preparation and cooking of food for our students.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of kitchen equipment and report any breakdown.
  • Ensuring kitchen security at all times.
  • Adhering to all policies
  • Health and Safety at Work
  • Environmental Health Regulations
  • Performing other duties as delegated

    Who you are
  • You are a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • You are able to work well and meet strict deadlines with minimum supervision
  • You have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • You have a diploma in food and beverage production
  • You have exposure to any additional kitchen training. This is preferred but not compulsory
  • You have exposure to 1-2 solid internships with well-recognized companies and perhaps 1 full-time role as a chef.
  • You have handled food for more than 150 people at a time in any given reputable organization.
  • You have I-3 years experience in a busy organization, preferably in a school

    2. Kitchen Steward
    As a Kitchen Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen. All utensils and kitchen floors must be kept clean. You will also work hand-in-hand with the other kitchen staff to ensure smooth production of food.

    Function: School

    You will be based in our Ondiri or Tatu Campus

    Reports To: Head Chef

    How will your day to day at Nova look like?
  • Keeping working area clean throughout the day
  • Ensuring that the prescribed uniform is worn and is neat and clean
  • Cleaning dry goods store, cold room, freezer room and shelves
  • Ensuring sink is always clean with clean dish rack
  • Cleaning bathrooms, ensure that enough soap and toilet paper is available
  • Removing all rubbish and dispose and clean dump hatch
  • Wiping all tiles and walls
  • Cleaning and shine all glasses
  • Cleaning all utensils as per procedure
  • Performing any other duties delegated by your supervisor

    3. Campus Operations Manager

    Overview of Role & Responsibilities
    The Campus Ops Manager is responsible for assisting or directing the planning, development and implementation of projects related to Academic Systems, Sports Activities, Boarding & Meal Services, Educational Technology, Library, IT Services, Facilities Management, Procurement and Finance and Administration.

    The incumbent ensures that support services are provided in an efficient and effective manner so that the school is better equipped to meet the students learning and social needs. This role reports to the Head of Campus Operations.

    General Campus Operations
  • Assist with implementation of any and all initiatives put forth by Operations team.
  • Leads and/or provides support in the execution of projects related to school goals - renovation, construction, new policies/systems, etc.
  • Ensures smooth campus operations (including evening and weekend activities) by liaising closely with resident teaching staff and operations team.
  • Supports in the successful running of various aspects of school operations - Library, Student
  • Support Services, Kitchen operations, Sports Activities, etc.

    Facilities Management
  • Is the go-to-person on the team when it comes to campus cleanliness, maintenance & repairs, facilities management, security and utilities.
  • Responsible for the operation, supervision and maintenance of building systems to provide continuous supply of water, electrical power, and other utilities required for operations.
  • Works closely with the campus security team and caretaker to aid in the maintenance of a safe learning environment.
  • Develops and supervises the implementation of the routine and preventive maintenance required for all buildings and physical equipment.

    Financial Management
  • Assists in forecasting and managing the school facilities budget.
  • Assists in doing various cost analysis to identify operational improvements

    Staff Management
  • Responsible for planning, assigning and directing contract/casual staff, including cleaning and security staff
  • Responsible for appraising staff performance; rewarding and disciplining contract/casual staff; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years of related work experience preferably in business operations, project management, marketing, event management and/or finance operations
  • At least 1-2 years spent in a supervisory/leadership role demonstrating progressive responsibility
  • Superior problem solving and planning skills
  • Highly developed organizational, communication and presentation skills
  • A high degree of computer literacy
  • Superior interpersonal skills as demonstrated by the ability to form professional relationships at all levels the organization and with appropriate external stakeholders
  • Overseas work experience within a multicultural environment would be advantageous
