14. National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation Driver I Jobs in Kenya - 1 Post - Ref: DI/5/14/2017


The position is responsible to the Administration Officer II for provision of driving duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving Commission’s vehicles as authorized;
  • Reporting need for repairs and service of the assigned vehicle when due;
  • Cleaning the assigned vehicle regularly;
  • Maintain updated work ticket;
  • Checking the assigned vehicle’s condition and fuelling it before travelling;
  • Ensuring security to the assigned passengers, commission’s vehicle and goods on transit;
  • Reporting any accidents to police and the office immediately they occur;
  • Carrying only authorized passengers and/or goods;
  • Ensuring safe custody of the assigned vehicle keys.

    Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:

  • Minimum of KCSE D+
  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) the officer is required to drive;
  • Passed Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers;
  • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association(AA)of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Attended a Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police;
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1)week from St. Johns John Ambulance or Kenya Institute Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT)or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrated professional competence in driving as reflected in work performance and results; and
  • A minimum period of three (3) years’ experience.

  • A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class(es) of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive;
  • Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one(1)week at St.John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized Institution;
  • passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;
  • Passed Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department;
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police; and
  • At least two (2) years driving experience.
