Life and Peace Institute Project Officer Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Undertakes project implementation from beginning to end (with a specific focus on LPI’s project in Turkana), ensuring consultation with colleagues, and approval from the Country Manager for key decisions.
  • Maintains a solid and up-to-date understanding of the conflict situation in Turkana, and Kenya in general.
  • Proactively manages changes in the project’s scope; identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans.
  • Liaises and networks with the relevant project/programme Partners, civil society organizations, County and National Government, and
  • Private Sector representatives towards achievement of the project objectives.
  • Develops periodic and annual plans for the Turkana project based on clear expected results/outputs that can be tracked and presented to the Country Manager for review and approval.
  • Takes the lead in writing all Turkana project narrative reports and requisite financial reports to donors, in consultation with the Country
  • Manager, ensuring accuracy with deadlines and report formats.
  • In consultation with the Country Manager, prepares the narrative, Gantt chart and performance monitoring plan for potential projects.
  • Based on monitoring & evaluation data, participates in the learning process from the experiences of the programme/project.
  • Ensure that this learning is documented, and informs project implementation.
  • Supports the implementation of all programmatic/conflict transformation aspects.
  • Ensures that the Country Manager and/or the designated lead at any time, has full knowledge on the status of project implementation.
  • Executes other tasks assigned by the Country Manager and/or designated lead.

    Qualifications

  • Professional experience in peacebuilding and policy advocacy
  • University degree in Social Sciences (Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations,
  • Political Science, Sociology, or related field)
  • Good analytical writer (English)
  • Strong participatory facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated interest in peace practice and research, experience in NGO programme work a strong asset
  • Fluency in English and Turkana languages
  • The candidate does not require a work permit to work in Kenya.
