Kenyatta National Hospital Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist Career Opportunities

Job Group K5 (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Planning, Supervision, Coordination and Evaluation of pharmaceutical services.
• Facilitating regular inspections and quality control audits to ensure conformity with national guidelines and regulations.
• Participating in planning and budgeting for drugs and pharmaceutical requirements including for the Hospital including Performance Contract negotiations.
• Maintaining Pharmacy files, charge system inventory procedures and control of drugs
• Supervising quality pharmaceutical services which include; examination and filing of prescriptions.
• Directing Pharmacy Staff engaged in compounding, mixing, packaging, labelling and dispensing Pharmaceuticals.
• Assisting in the review of pharmacy policies and procedure manual.
• Protecting patients and support staff by adhering to Infection Control Protocols.
• Inspection and examination of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Participating in departmental quality improvement control programmes.
• Ensuring that dispensing of drugs is done professionally.
• Effective supervision, training and development of staff.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management
• Higher Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
• Proven experience of at least three (3) years in the grade of Assistant Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist or equivalent position in a large organization.
• Registration with the Pharmacy and poisons Board.
• Certificate in computer operations from a recognized institution.
• Shown merit and ability in work performance and results.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analysing the staffing levels and making proposals for succession planning
  • Handling all Discipline cases, Resignation, Retirement, Leave and Allowances.
  • Preparing agenda for the Staff Disciplinary and Advisory Committee (SDAC).
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining human resources and promote awareness on regulatory compliance.
  • Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the department.
  • Evaluating internal processes and providing solutions that will ensure services to employees are timely and transparent.
  • Supporting quality Assurance / OSHE initiatives in the Department
  • Producing reports on key metrics, including remuneration and benefits, absenteeism and turnover.
  • Providing supervision, guidance, mentorship and coaching to help staff realise their full potential.
  • Providing technical advice to HR business partners in the hospital.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration (Human Resource option), Labour Relations Management or its equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Post graduate Diploma in Human Resource management from a recognised institution or CPS(K).
  • Senior
    Management course lasting at least one (1) month.
  • Working experience of at least three (3) years at the level of Chief Human Resource Officer II or its equivalent in a large organization.
  • Must be conversant with human resource management information system.
  • Must be a member of the Human Resource professional body (IHRM).

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Human Resource performance contracting activities and ensure timely reporting on the same.
  • Ensuring that the applicable performance management processes support employee development and continuing improvement.
  • Developing metrics to evaluate individual employee contribution to the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Ensuring that employee performance evaluation rating is aligned to the goals and objectives of the Hospital.
  • Coordinating bi-annual performance appraisal reports across the Hospital and provide reports.
  • Encouraging full participation and success of the Performance Management function in the Hospital.
