1. Sub Editor/ Writer – KYEB/HR/09/2016


Department: Editorial

Job Grade: KYEB 4

Reporting to: Associate Editor

Terms of Service: Contract

[Job Role: Provide writing and editing support in the Editorial functions.

Key responsibilities
  • Going out on assignments as well as use of own initiative to gather information on existing Government programmes and related significant private-sector developments to compile reports for the organisation’s publications.
  • Research and provide requisite background information for reports compiled.
  • Submitting finished form factual, of public interest, detailed and well-researched reports in conformity with journalistic ethics, Government communication policies, editorial objectives and house style.
  • Take notes on location, carry out interviews, check facts, copy documents and tape record as the case may be for assigned reports at the direction of either the Associate Editor or the Editorial Manager.
  • The material so written must reflect a thorough understanding of the Government’s communication policy and the journalistic code of ethical journalism.
  • Take primary responsibility for the correctness of facts and content of his/her reports.
  • Closely work with photographers and designers for pictures and design issues for reports submitted
  • Liaising with media practitioners and public on issues of mutual concern under the guidance of a Senior officer

    Minimum academic qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any business-related field, communication studies, journalism, public relations, or any other appropriate qualifications from a recognised university / institution
  • Relevant work experience:
  • Four years of, mainly business,journalistic working experience.
  • Ability to rewrite and copy edit reports will be an added advantage.

    2. Human Resource Officer – KYEB/HR/08/2016

    Department: Human Resource Department

    Job Grade: KYEB 6

    Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

    Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

    Job Role: Development, review and implementation of Human resources and administration policies, strategies, programmes and procedures to support KYEB’s Strategic goals and objectives and to enhance individual and Board’s performance.

    Key responsibilities
  • Review and recommend human resource policy initiatives
  • Preparation and implementation of the Human Resource work plan and performance contracting targets
  • Facilitating performance target setting in line with strategic and annual work plans of the Board.
  • Managing employee resourcing
  • Coordinate the processing of terminal dues and staff clearance procedures during staff separation.
  • Coordinating staff welfare issues; administering employee medical and insurance schemes including workers compensation through the appropriate benefit schemes such as NHIF, NSSF, and other employee welfare programmes
  • Overseeing the provision of office space, equipment, furniture and employment cards.
  • Handling industrial relations disputes and ensuring compliance with labour laws and regulations
  • Preparing budgets for the Human Resource and Administration unit and overseeing implementation and control
  • Manage sustainable organization succession plan
  • Updating job descriptions and periodically carrying out job profiling;
  • Assist in processing appointments and promotions;
  • Assist in assessing and determining training needs;
  • Provide leadership in building an effective organizational culture for sustainable results;

    Minimum academic qualifications:
  • A Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or humanities or an equivalent degree from a recognized University

    Professional qualifications:
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management and membership to a professional body of Human Resource practitioners
  • Relevant work experience:
  • Seven (7) years experience in Human resource practice in a well established Organization.

    3. Driver – KYEB/HR/ADM/07/2016

    Department: Finance and Administration

    Job Grade: KYEB 11

    Reporting to: Administrative Assistant

    Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

    Job Role: To provide driving and messenger
    related services to the Board.

    Key responsibilities
  • In charge of driving the Boards vehicles;
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, among others;
  • Ensuring the vehicle is maintained to the highest standard as per the vehicles maintenance schedule;
  • Maintaining a valid work ticket for vehicles assigned.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
  • Ensuring security and safety of vehicle on and off the road

    Minimum academic qualifications:
  • O level certificate or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) with a Minimum of C- (Minus)

    Professional qualifications:
  • A valid driver’s licence BCE classes and a current Certificate of Good Conduct.
  • Defensive Driving Skills.
  • First Aid Skills.
  • Relevant work experience:
  • 3 years continuous accident-free driving

  • Team player, positive attitude and self driven
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Listening skills, ability to follow instructions

    4. Senior Driver – KYEB/HR/ADM/06/2016

    Department: Finance and Administration

    Job Grade: KYEB 10

    Reporting to: Personal Secretary to the CEO

    Terms of Services: Permanent and Pensionable

    Job Role: To provide driving services to the Board.

    Key responsibilities
  • In charge of providing driving services to the CEO’s office;
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, among others;
  • Ensuring the vehicle is maintained to the highest standard as per the vehicles maintenance schedule;
  • Maintaining a valid work ticket for vehicles assigned.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
  • Ensuring security and safety of vehicle on and off the road.

    Minimum academic qualifications:
  • O level certificate or Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) with a minimum of C Plain or its equivalent

    Professional qualifications:
  • A valid driver’s licence BCE classes;
  • Passed occupational Test 1 for drivers
  • Attended a first Aid Certificate Course at St John’s Ambulance of Kenya or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIBHT) or any other recognised Institution
  • Attended a refresher course for drivers within (3)Three years at KIHBT or any other recognised institution
  • Relevant work experience:
  • At least 5 (Five) years driving experience in a busy organisation and passed suitability test for Drivers Grade III.

  • Listening skills, ability to follow instructions
