4. Senior Legal Affairs Officer

Will be responsible to the Legal Affairs Manager, and will assist in documentation, secretarial and legal activities of the Authority. Duties and responsibilities at this level will involve:
  • Providing legal advice to the Authority;
  • Monitoring and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance;
  • Reviewing, advising, and making recommendations on new legislation, subsidiary legislation, rules and regulations;
  • Providing legal opinions on various matters arising from the Departments / Sections of the Authority;
  • Undertaking research and reviews of existing laws that impact the Authority’s core functions;
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, leases and other conveyance documents;
  • Providing necessary support in preparation for Board matters.
    Qualifications
  • Five (5) years post qualification experience in the field of legal services in the Public Service or Private Sector; Experience in the Public Sector is an added advantage.
  • A Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution;
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education;
  • Registered as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
  • A current Practicing Certificate;
  • A Certificate of Attendance of a Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution, is an added advantage;
  • Proficiency in the use of ICT in discharging legal duties.

    Terms of Service and Remuneration Successful candidate will serve on a three (3) years’ contract, renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and delivery of set performance targets and outcomes.

    The salary and other benefits attached to this position will be as determined by the Board guided by the State Corporations and Advisory Committee in
    consultation with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
