Immediate Supervisor: AGM – Underwriting & Business Development

Overall Responsibility

Responsible for building the organization’s market position to achieve financial growth by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships with individuals, intermediaries & Corporates.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Generate Business Development and Distribution strategies and carry out market research within and
outside the Company.
• Prepare and drive the annual revenue budget for the business development function and ensure proper budgetary control.
• Develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
• Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examine risks and potentials, partners’ needs and goals.
• Work with cross-functional departments to develop proposals that addresses the client’s needs, concerns and objectives.
• Present business development training and mentoring to business acquisition partners.
• Evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, and return-on-investment and profit-loss projections.
• Coordinate and disseminate corporate marketing strategies to the identified distribution channels.
• Identify/pursue new business leads and monitor customer service relationships.
• Periodic review of business development policies and procedures to ensure their relevance to the business strategy and changing organization needs
• Spearhead product development and enhancement initiatives.
• Ensure that large /corporate accounts are acquired and retained.
• Ensure large / corporate clients are accorded holistic service.
• Explore new business potential in traditional and non-traditional areas
• Understand customers’ business
requirements and match them to insurance solutions.
• Establish and form relationships with intermediaries.
• Identify, develop and maintain alternative distribution channels.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the AGM Operations from time to time.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
• Masters degree is an added advantage
• Progress or completion of professional qualification (ACII, AIIK or equivalent)
• 7 years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been at Supervisory level and above

• Knowledge in insurance products and services
• Knowledge claims management/handling
• Strong networking, persuasion, prospecting and closing kills
• Strong sales and strategic planning skills
• Excellent people and management skills.
• Strong written, oral communication and customer service skills
