Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Assistant Research Officer (Fish Pathologist) (RI.9) – (1 Position) Vacancies


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in conducting basic exams and evaluations;
  • Giving routine vaccinations;
  • Taking samples of blood or other bodily fluids, analyze and prepare technical reports;
  • Distributing prescription medications;
  • Observing and evaluating behavior;
    Suturing wounds;
  • Assisting in performing surgical procedures when necessary;
  • Conducting follow-up exams after treatment,

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Science in Pathology or Fish Science from a recognized university or equivalent qualification;
  • Must be Computer literate.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observing and evaluating behavior,

  • Performing surgical procedures when necessary,

  • Taking x-rays or sonograms,
  • Supervising veterinary technicians or other support staff.

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Master of Science in Pathology or Master of Science in Fish Science from a recognized university or equivalent qualification;
  • Must be Computer literate

    Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Senior Accountant (RI.10) – (1 Position) Vacancies

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collection of financial estimates data;
  • Determination of aggregate expenditure;
  • Supervision of the revenue collection processes;
  • Preparation of the institute financial statements;
  • Interpretation of all regulations of the Institute pertaining to financial control and management;
  • Ensuring that proper accounting systems are in place
  • Handling and responding to audit queries;
  • Assisting in overhead planning and budgeting;
  • Generation of financial returns and reports;
  • Ensuring that revenue appropriation in aid and other receipts due to KMFRI are collected promptly, banked immediately and accounted for;
  • General supervision of staff;
  • Staff training and development;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Commerce Accounting; Finance; Economics;
  • Business Administration or its equivalent
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA III) or its equivalent;
  • A certificate in computerized accounting especially competency in the evolving accounting packages such as Pastel, Quick books etc.
  • Satisfactorily served at the position of Accountant I for at least three (3) years in a public institution

    Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute Senior Public Relations Officer(RI.10) – (1 Position) Vacancies

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collating and analyzing media coverage;
  • Verifying, translating and editing features and articles from various sources;
  • Staff training and development; Staff supervision;
  • Monitoring publicity for the institute;
  • Writing and distributing press releases to targeted media;
  • Writing and editing in house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports;
  • Co-ordination of meetings, conferences,
  • Seminars, workshops and exhibitions;
  • Prepare advertisements;
  • Liaising with the media and KMFRI research scientists in preparation and running of documentaries and press write ups

    Minimum Requirements for Appointment

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a minimum grade of C+ or equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations or Mass Communication/Journalism or equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Postgraduate qualification in the relevant field;
  • Membership to relevant professional body;
  • Computer literate;
  • Satisfactorily served at the position of Public Relations Officer I or its equivalent for at least three (3) years
