International Rescue Committee Supply Chain Manager-Yumbe Jobs in Uganda


Overall Responsibilities:

  • To provide all necessary Supply Chain support to the Senior Supply Chain Manager and Field Coordinators to enable field project activities to proceed with maximum efficiency while adhering to the Global IRC's Supply Chain Manual and SOPs.
  • The Supply Chain Manager will work under the supervision of the Field coordinator and should be a strong team member who can assist in the continued development of the Supply Chain Team and contribute to the further effective running of IRC activities in Uganda.
  • He will be based in Yumbe Field Office and will be responsible for the effective management of the warehouse staff, Transport team and procurement staff.
  • The Supply Chain Manager is a key position within the Chain and carries responsibility for the integrity of the IRC's Supply Chain system.
  • Supply Chain must be able to rapidly respond to the programs and operation’s needs, whilst ensuring best practices and maintaining audit-compliant records.
  • Specific responsibilities includes supervising the procurement process, warehousing process, assets management, vehicles and transport management and IT

    Key Responsibilities;

    Administrative Role:
    • Manage all staff employed in the supply chain Department supporting operations for IRC Yumbe program by assigning of duties through delegation, monitoring the performance and regularly evaluating staff directly supervised by him /her.
    •Responsible, in conjunction with the Senior Supply chain Manager for planning, organizing and developing the long term strategy and approach of IRC Supply chain.
    • Make recommendations on training for all staff under his/her supervision.
    • Ensure there is an adequate and neatly organized filling system for procurement documents, Warehouse documents, transport and vehicles management and other logistical records.

    Required (Qualifications,Experience & Competencies) :

  • Bachelor degree in logistics or Business management another relevant field
  • Thorough method of working with ability to work under pressure to pursue multiple tasks simultaneously to successful conclusions;
  • Management ability to lead, motivate and develop staff;
  • Positive attitude with good sense of humor;
    Committed team player;
  • Ability to live and work in a fairly isolated area and in conditions of limited comfort;
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel);
  • At least 5 years’ experience working as a logistician;

    International Rescue Committee Senior HR and Administration Officer Jobs in Uganda

    Back ground

    The IRC was registered in Uganda in mid-1998 and implements rehabilitation activities in the sectors of Child and Youth Protection and development, Health, Economic recovery and Development and women protection and empowerment as well as contributing to the response to the Southern Sudanese Refugee situation.
    IRC Uganda has a head office in Kampala, field offices in Kitgum, Karamoja, and West Nile and in Kiryandongo.

    Responsibilities

    Recruitment and On-boarding:

  • Initiate and coordinate all the recruitment requests and follow through on hiring procedures in line with the policy.
  • Prepare and post all job advertisements for all vacant positions in appropriate channels and ensure wide and appropriate distribution, this includes e-filing of application and sending out HR communications.
  • Maintain an organized recruitment resource database and bi-weekly update the recruitment status report and send it to all managers on a weekly basis
  • Organize interviews and follow through on hiring procedures in line with the IRC policy
    Liaise with hiring managers and field based
  • HR/Admin staff to ensure new staff are oriented upon hire in all IRC offices
  • Staff development & Training

    Other Human Resource Functions

  • Read, review and become knowledgeable of the IRC Global HR Policies and Procedures and draft addendums
    for the (CP) for any areas of non-compliance with Ugandan Laws in liaison with your supervisor
  • Perform other work related duties as required by the supervisor and SMT

    Requirements (Qualifications, Skills and Abilities)

  • University studies/ Higher education in Human Resources, Business administration or any other related course;

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Human Resources preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience in similar position;
  • Proven skills in administration and human resources management
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills
    good administrative skills
  • Strong written and oral English communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to present information effectively; experience providing training and staff development a plus
  • Good analytic skills and ability to settle disputes.
  • must demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing requirements; must be able to work independently while being a strong team player;
  • Strong skills in collaboration with multi-cultural and diverse teams
  • A team builder with excellent people skills; must be culturally sensitive

    International Rescue Committee Field Manager- Moroto Jobs in Uganda

    Overall Responsibilities:

  • The Field Manager leads the IRC’s response efforts in Karamoja region based in Moroto Field site, providing management guidance to ensure efficient response, scale of assistance and quality within programming.
  • As the IRC’s most senior representative in the field, the Field Manager must bring a senior leadership profile with a proven track record in managing emergency programming around the world successfully.
  • The successful candidate will be confident, eloquent and organized, able to represent IRC to the District, other partners including beneficiaries and donors as well as handle sensitive, complex issues in a diplomatic way that puts the needs of the beneficiaries first to sustain the good image of the IRC

    Key Responsibilities:

    Security:

  • Act as security focal point for Karamoja region
  • Regularly review and update Moroto site security plan based on constantly shifting environment
  • Ensure staff are trained on, aware of and in compliance with IRC security policies;
  • Monitor the security situation in Karamoja region and its surroundings, including attending security briefings;
  • Keep senior management in Kampala and local staff informed of developments;
  • Provide a security briefing on arrival for all new staff and visitors;
  • Compile and submit weekly security reports

    Requirements (Education, Experience and Skills):

  • Degree in public administration, international relations or related field, advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years work within a humanitarian agency, including field management and report writing 3-5 years experience managing, supervising and developing operational staff
  • Good understanding of operations (logistics, administration, human resources, IT)
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate and manage a diverse array of responsibilities: programs, logistics, security, finance and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations diplomatically and possesses strong communication skills.
    Ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds, cultures, education levels
  • Familiarity of IRC and donors (US, European, UN) policies and regulations
