Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Actively lead or participate in coordination mechanisms in the area (e.g. Health, general coordination, potential MHPSS coordination group) and advocate for principles of IASC MHPSS guidelines.
  • Identify and train local mental health officers and refugee staff/volunteers in community outreach, mental health case management, follow-up and mental health promotion
  • Provide training in the identification and non-pharmacological management of priority mental health condition to general health staff in line with WHO mhGAP Intervention Guidelines in coordination with project MHPSS coordinator (psychiatrist)
  • Engage trained staff and volunteers in on the job mentoring and supervision
  • Provide mental health and psychosocial support services along with health staff as needed
  • Ensure completion and analysis of pre post
  • knowledge tests and on the job supervision checklists.

  • The qualified candidate will have a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. clinical or counseling psychology, clinical social work, Psychiatry, mental health care etc.).
  • 3+ years experience working on MHPSS programs, preferably in humanitarian settings
  • Training and supervision experience required
    Strong organizational and supervisory skills

    International Medical Corps 17-199: GBV Program Coordinator Jobs in South Africa

    Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

    Program Planning

    • Work closely with the GBV technical advisor in HQ, country level senior management, the GBV Manager and GBV Program Managers based in the field to ensure achievement of IMC’s program goals
    • Provide strategic direction and undertake analysis of GBV trends, gaps in services, and IMC’s capacities to better address needs
    • Contribute to program design and oversee the preparation of concept notes and proposals
    • Contribute to ongoing programmatic assessments

    Coordination:

    • Participate and contribute to the Juba-based GBV sub-cluster
    • Advocate for adherence to SOPs and on behalf of program teams as needed
    • Ensure maximum visibility of IMC amongst the UN and NGO community
    • Coordinate internally to support mainstreaming of GBV and protection in IMC South Sudan

    Qualifications Advanced degree in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study preferred
    • Minimum five – seven years of field experience, including experience in GBV program management and protection/GBV coordination
    • Experience with proposal writing, reporting and M&E
    • Experience working with income generating activities preferred
    • Experience working with implementing partners preferred
    • Relevant regional experience strongly preferred
    • Ability to exercise sound
    judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
    • Ability to work well with a cross-cultural team
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

    Language Skills:

    • English fluency required
    • Arabic proficiency will be an added advantage

    Essential Jobs Duties/Scope of Work;

    Job purpose

    The primary function of the GBV Manager is to provide technical and mangerial guidance for successful implementation of GBV prevention and response activities of International Medical Corps in various sites. He/she will also be responsible for managing donor relations and country-level representation.

    Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

    Program Planning
    • Work closely with the GBV Program Coordinator and senior management team when necessary to ensure achievement of GBV program goals.
    • Provide strategic direction and undertake analysis of GBV trends, gaps in services, and IMC’s capacities to better address needs
    • Contribute to program design and oversee the preparation of concept notes and proposals
    • Contribute to ongoing programmatic assessments and ensure continuous improvement within the GBV programme

    Program Implementation and Capacity Development:

    • Lead the program start up processes and discussions with the local partner, government authorities and donors.
    • Provide ongoing technical support and capacity building to GBV staff during programme implementation
    • Provide technical support to strengthen and standardize programming per global standards, including psychosocial support activities and case management systems, outreach and prevention strategies, and awareness-raising efforts
    • Organize and lead GBV technical trainings as needed for national staff
    • Contribute to healthcare trainings to improve clinical response to sexual assault and other forms of GBV
    • Provide guidance on information-sharing and data management systems
    • Support the compilation of reports and assessments with accurate data

    Coordination:

    • Participate and contribute to the GBV working group and protection working group
    • Do advocacy for gaps and needs in the field in appropriate fora
    • Coordinate with national and international NGOs, UN agencies and other stakeholders to ensure holistic support for survivors, including participation in strengthening GBV SOPs and referral pathways
    • Advocate for adherence to SOPs and on behalf of program teams as needed
    • Ensure maximum visibility of IMC amongst the UN and NGO community

    Human Resources Management

    • Assist in recruitment and support of qualified program staff as needed
    • Promote support strategies for staff, including principles of self-care
    • Fill in for program managers as needed during any periods of extended absence, including support and supervision of program team

    Language Skills:
