I need your brotherly piece of advice, Mr. Joe!
by ONABOLA OLUWAOTIYN
At the moment, I hold an offer of a place to study at the University of Sheffield, Msc. Chemoinformatics, scheduled to start September, 2008. I applied for the British Chevening Scholarship and went through the stages of the interview.
It was, however, disheartening and dream-shattering, to say the least, for me, when I received a mail form the British High Commission, after the final interview, that the panel refused to recommend me. The way the writer of the letter stated it was that it was nothing of his own making, but the panel's. Also stating that I must have done well to have reached that final interview. Mr. Joe Ngugi, what can I do now?
Please, do advise. I have my IELTS result-exceeding average, and my admission letter. I believe they can get me a scholarship before September this year. I look forward to getting a feedback from you.
That is a bad situation to be in. Obviously you are good enough and that is why you went that far on the Chevening scholarship.
I would recommend your try others like Erasmus Mundus, ORS etc.
You can also ask the University for more options as far as scholarships is concerned.
All in all let me know how it goes.
