    The Role:

  • GAIN is currently seeking an exceptional leader with solid experience working in Ethiopia, an entrepreneurial mind-set and who possesses a broad understanding of our area of work.
  • We are looking for someone who can represent GAIN in an authoritative and credible way, think critically, innovate to develop solutions that drive impact at scale and who can build and maintain strong alliances with key partners to position GAIN as a significant contributor to addressing malnutrition.

    Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience leading and developing projects in a multi-cultural environment in the private sector, food industry or international development, with at least three years in a senior management position
  • Experience of working in Ethiopia with a sound knowledge of the country context and key government and civil society stakeholders
  • Broad understanding of the nutrition-food systems nexus, public health and community development
  • Demonstrated in‐depth understanding of program issues and policy work at national and international levels
  • Entrepreneurial with a track record of business development and successful fundraising including experience liaising with in-country donors and working with large, complex donors
  • Experience in successfully building and managing various forms of partnerships and/or alliances
  • Experience of building effective personal networks at a senior level including collaborative relationships with donors, business leaders and government counterparts
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent understanding and experience of risk, programme, financial and operational management

    International Committee of the Red Cross Field Officer – Economic Security Jobs in Ethiopia

  • The ICRC is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance.
  • The Economic Security Department (EcoSec) of The International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation in Ethiopia plays an active role within the Assistance Division, and is looking for a qualified candidate to fill up the following vacant position.

    Main Tasks

    •Participates in planning, implementation and monitoring of specific EcoSec projects (emergency response with essential household items; livelihood support through livestock and agricultural projects; MEI- micro economic initiatives – income generating activities).
    •Helps to understand and analyze the general situation and humanitarian issues around project locations.
    •Provides reports and establish statistical data according to procedures and timelines.
    •Participates in/ conduct field trips as part of a team, or individually (autonomously).
    •Conduct assessment and participates in the project cycle.
    •Participates/contributes to various internal reports (activity reports, weekly highlights, monthly and quarterly EcoSec reports, PfR).
    •Represents the ICRC in relevant meetings, seminar & workshop on agriculture, livestock and relief response.

    Educational
    Background & Work Experience


    •University degree in Veterinary Science or Agriculture.
    •Minimum 3 years’ experience in veterinary practice, agriculture and/or food security.
    •Previous experience in assessment, implementation and monitoring of livestock interventions in East and/or West Hararghe zones is an asset.
    •Very good knowledge of the context, geography and culture of the Hararghe zones.
    •Good knowledge and understanding of humanitarian issues.
    •Good analytical, communication, reporting and networking skills.
    •Willingness to travel and readiness to spend 50-75% of the time in the field, mainly in areas of East Hararghe, West Hararghe and Diredawa
    •Excellent command of spoken and written Afan Oromo.
    •Very good command of spoken and written English and Amharic.
    •Driving license (required).

    International Rescue Committee CWI Manager /Gender Manager/ Jobs in Ethiopia

    Scope:

  • The CWI Program Manager will work with the CWI Coordinator, CWI Assistant coordinator, and CWI Addis based staffs to provide program technical and operational support to CWI field programs in Benishangul-Gumuz (BGRs), Tigray and Somali (Jijiga and Dolo Ado) Regions.
  • This position provides direct support to a Program Manager overseeing refugee and CWI programming in four camps in Tigray, and two refugee camps in the Jijiga, Somali region as primary responsibility, and other region in BGRS and Dolo Ado, Somali region and the CWI local community project as needed.
  • With the Addis-based CWI team, s/he will ensure that the sector goals and objectives are met by providing technical assistance, field visits, capacity building and other support to field-based staff and programs.

    Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing supervision, leadership, capacity building and technical support and guidance to all program staff. Ensure that all staff adheres to best-practice of safeguarding women and girls
  • Support the continuous monitoring and evaluation of CWI projects so that activities are quality, appropriate and based on a clear evident of the problems, causes, contributing factors, and issues in specific settings.
  • Conduct field visits and thoroughly document findings and recommendations include final review any assessment conducted, safety audit report or any other program learning and evaluation activity.
  • Collect, analyze and disseminate project data and evidence based information for problem analysis, planning and evaluation with all stakeholders according to schedule.
  • Ensure good project monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate a well plan project implementation and project impact. Assist with planning throughout the project cycle.
  • Ensure that all project requirements and indicators are met and are of a high quality-cost effective implementation, this includes activity guidance, tools or any innovative approach are developed to improve program quality and support the implementation at field level.
