AMPATH Project Manager Jobs in Eldoret

The Academic Model Providing Access To Health Care (AMPATH) is a project under the auspices of Moi University College of Health Sciences, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and consortium of North American Universities whose aim is to provide sustainable efforts in access to health care. AMPATH also supports the Ministry of Health in eight (8) Counties of Western Kenya Region.


Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following vacant position under World Bank funded Project to be based at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) - AMPATH

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate relevant program activities towards achieving expected results in accordance with the Project protocol;
  • Assume primary responsibility for daily management and oversight of the implementation of the project, including organizational, operational and substantive matters - budgeting, planning and general monitoring of the project;
  • Under the guidance of the PI, take responsibility for financial, technical and methodological aspects of implementation;
  • Facilitate the project implementation and coordination with stakeholders;
  • Supervise the performance of Responsible Parties and ensure timely submission of periodic progress reports;
  • Ensure dissemination of information and knowledge management for effective program implementation;
  • With the guidance of the PI, prepare an annual work plan(s) and ensure adherence to the program work plan;
  • Prepare revisions of the work plan, if required;
  • Monitor the expenditures, commitments and balance of funds in line with the annual implementation plan and reporting requirements;
  • Supervise Project staff;
  • Ensure full compliance with operational rules and regulations in terms of procurement, human resources and finance;
  • With the oversight of relevant investigators, develop process evaluation plan
  • Through the medical officer and the rest of the team implement the evaluation plan;
  • Together with the P.I, plan and coordinate investigators meetings Secretary in all investigators meetings
  • Oversee implementation of decisions from investigators and county meetings
  • Ensure that all stakeholders of the project (community, ministry of health, partners) have detailed understanding of the project and participate in the implementation
  • Build strong relationship with Ministry
    of health, community leaders and other stakeholders of the project both in the field and at the county level
  • Undertake any other actions related to the project requested by the investigators;


    Functional Competences

  • Program management skills including budget management and finances
  • Good knowledge of county health management policies and processes Knowledge of Results Based Management
  • Ability to gather and interpret data, reach logical conclusions and present findings and good reporting skills
  • Good organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure against strict deadlines

    Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a health related field
  • Five years relevant experience in community health
  • Practical experience working with central or local decision makers will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge in working with ERP systems most preferred
  • Two to three years working or have worked in a donor funded research setting

    Terms of Employment

    The successful candidate will be employed on a one year contract terms,beginning with a three-month probation.
