Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Includes the following:

  • Understands and implements operating policies and Conducts HIV Pre and Post Test Counseling.
  • Elicits from clients HIV risk history including, but not limited to, demographic information, sex history, drug and alcohol use, and past STD infections.
  • Administers oral or finger stick tests to detect HIV antibodies.

    Education and/or Experience

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer/Software Skills & Abilities
  • Should have knowledge of Word Processing software.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret guidelines such as safety rules, universal precautions, operating and maintenance instructions, and program manuals.
  • Ability to document extensive reports accurately.
  • Ability to speak effectively in a group setting.

    Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    AIDS Healthcare Foundation Linkage and Mobilization Assistant Vacancies in South Africa

    Responsibilities:

  • Implementing the demand creation and mobilization work plan to achieve the goals of the project;
  • Together with the M&E team, implement the linkage and tracing work plan;
  • Liaise with the communities, community leaders, the DoH and other partners when mobilizing for HIV testing and related services under the project;
  • Identify and secure venues for the HCT campaigns in liaison with the Linkage and Mobilization Coordinator;
  • When required, supervise and mentor volunteer linkage & mobilization assistants on stipend;
    Conduct individual, couple, family and group counseling of clients when appropriate and required;
  • Recording of mobilization/demand creation and linkage & tracing activities as required;
  • Produce reports on mobilization/demand
    creation and linkage / tracing activities;
  • Participate in the design of linkage and mobilization procedure for the project;
  • Ensures compliance to all AHF policies and procedures;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience:

  • Matric, and/or; Diploma or Certificate in Marketing or Community Work or Public Relations or Social Sciences or Health Sciences; or a Training in HIV counseling.
  • Experience working in an HIV setting or working within an NGO environment, or in community work, will be highly advantageous.

    Language Skills and Abilities:

  • Should have good written, oral and interpersonal English communication skills.
  • Knowledge and fluency in Zulu a must for this particular position.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret training materials and clinical/technical guidelines and protocols is required.

    Responsibilities:

  • Begins assigned clinics on time;
  • Provides clinical care and monitoring to patients;
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines;
  • Orders, interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs;
  • Reviews laboratory test results and other reports;
  • Records physical findings and formulates plan and prognosis based on patient's condition; discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan;
  • Utilizes electronic medical records system to document patient care where available;
  • Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, occupational therapy or related therapeutic procedures; refills medication;
