Action Against Hunger Data Analyst Job in Kenya
Action Against Hunger is implementing an operations research project to field-test a simplified, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) classification device (“Click-MUAC”) for use by mothers and caregivers in the screening their children for acute malnutrition at community level.
The purpose of developing this Click-MUAC device is to increase treatment coverage of acute malnutrition through mother/caregiver-led MUAC screening of children.
This approach will ensure early detection of acutely malnourished children and hence early treatment reducing complications and costs. The click MUAC device will also improve diagnosis of acute malnutrition hence reduce misdiagnosis of acute malnutrition at community level.
The Click-MUAC Project is funded by the Humanitarian Innovation Fund, implemented by ACF-USA and supported by Brixton Health and the University of Tampere.
The ethical approval for the research protocol was obtained from the AMREF Ethical Scientific and Research Committee (ESRC). Approval for the research project was also sought and granted by national and county MOH.
ACF-USA is currently looking for a suitable candidate on a short-term basis to undertake data entry and management for the Click-MUAC research project data in target Health facilities within ISIOLO COUNTY.
The data Analyst will report to the research assistantRoles and responsibilities
The data analyst will be in charge of the overall management of the Click MUAC study dataEnhance team work and effectiveness in the survey team for quality data collection by providing guidance and leadership to the enumerators
Enter data from the source documents accurately into computer following to pre-designed formats.
Keep track of received data and source documents.
Keep record of work completed.
Prepare and sort source documents, and identify data to be entered while also notifying the research
assistant of any incomplete data collection.
Contribute to overall data management and reporting
Any other duties assigned by the research assistant.
Qualifications and skills required:
A degree in Statistics, nutrition or public health field with vast experience in data management
Experience in use of the data entry soft wares to include EPI Data, Ms Excel
Experience in conducting data entry for nutrition surveys.
Team player and good inter-personal relationships.
Ability to work for long hours and on weekends.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate high levels of honesty and integrity.
