You will have a degree level qualification or equivalent diploma in a relevant discipline.
A minimum of three years’ work experience within the NGO sector; and on child/juvenile/youth rights and advocacy.
Experience of designing, implementing and monitoring advocacy programmes/initiatives; of capacity building within the NGO/CBO sector; and in campaigning, community mobilisation and networking are also essential.
You should have skills in policy development and research; and in participatory monitoring and evaluation methods.
Knowledge and understanding of one or more areas linked to youth rights, leadership and political participation; good team building skills and consensus led approach to work; and good command of English (both spoken and written) are also essential.
You should also have willingness to undertake road travel in Somaliland and cultural sensitivity in an Islamic/Somali environment.
Experience of working effectively in a resource poor environment, previous experience in the Somali context and understanding of the issues facing a post conflict society are also highly desirable.
