WatSan Programme Manager - Concern - Sudan

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.

The ideal person will possess a minimum of 5 years experience in implementing water and sanitation activities in a developing country with at least 3 years experience in the management of a rural watsan programme.

Location: Sudan (Nyamlel)

Person Specification

Essential:

- Third level qualification in relevant discipline such as water, Environmental or civil engineering.

- A minimum of 5 years experience in implementing water and sanitation activities in a developing country with at least 3 years experience in the management of a rural watsan programme.

Experience of community based hand pump maintenance and repair, participatory planning and development, and good hygiene and sanitation promotion knowledge and skills.

- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communications skills. Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive, ability to work under pressure, a feel for the way Concern operates and our target group. Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team. Needs to have initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision

Desirable:

- Training on the design of low cost sustainable water supply, hygiene and sanitation; Public health training. PHAST training.

- Good analytical skills. Experience of collaboratively working with partners, NGOs and UN Agencies.

Experience of working in isolated area in a multi-national/cultural environment; Training experience and capacity to identify training needs; develop training course and conduct the identified training at different levels. Capacity building experience
