Upon arrival for your volunteer placement, you will receive a full orientation to prepare you for your stay. You will live amongst the local families and help to develop and support their communities.

Ghana Volunteer Teaching Work

Volunteers assist in teaching English, mathematics, science, geography, social sciences, history, business education, art and music.

You will teach at a nursery, primary or secondary school. You will initially be guided by a local teacher or shadow the local teacher until you become familiar with the school, and the teaching curriculum. You can later begin teaching independently.

Ghana volunteer teachers are not required to have teaching experience or formal teacher training.

Ghana Orphanage Voluntary Work

Volunteers assist in caring for orphans, destitute and abandoned children. Caring work includes, washing, assisting in cooking for the children, bathing them, feeding, dressing and keeping the children active within the homes. You can also assist in building and repairing facilities at the orphanage.

Some of the orphans lost their parents through HIV/AIDS. Volunteers can also assist in teaching English language and other subjects and extra curriculum activities at the orphanages.

Working at an orphanage in Ghana will be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of your life.

Health Care, Medical and Nursing Volunteering

The duties assigned to you as a medical volunteer will depend on your interests and expertise. Medical student volunteers shadow local medical doctors and nurses. They assist them and learn by observing their work at clinics and hospitals.

Other volunteer jobs in Ghana medical program includes HIV/Aids awareness and education.

Volunteer in Ghana Program Schedule

Our programs are flexible. You can arrive and depart on any date convenient to you throughout the year. There is no minimum duration of stay.

You will typically work between 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday. You will spend your spare time shopping, eating out, cinemas, chatting with other volunteers or swimming.

Volunteer in Ghana Program Costs

Application Fee: USD $100.00. Application fee covers administration, program information, communication and the cost of collection from the airport.

    The costs you need to meet are:

    Your flight to and from the country, visa fees, work permits, vaccinations, and travel insurance, and airport taxes. You will also need a weekly budget of around US$20 to cover your expenses like bottled water, personal costs, public transport, beverages and entertainment.

    Volunteer Accommodation and Meals

    You will have a fantastic opportunity of living with a local family close to your volunteer project.

    This will provide you with an excellent opportunity to integrate and experience a cultural immersion within a Ghanaian family. The family will be on hand to help you and also show you around the local area.

    Your host family will provide 2 meals a day. Lunch can be taken at small cafes or restaurants near your volunteer project where you can try cheap and tasty local food. Three meals are provided if you are at your accommodation during weekends.
