The Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources in partnership with UNOPS Kenya office has designed a project aimed at climate change adaptation and sustainable use of natural resources in rural areas of Kenya through the eco-village model.

The project will mitigate climate change associated risks to food security and livelihoods in 50 vulnerable communities established as a network of eco-villages. Given the scope of the project, implementation will be performed in three successive phases.

The selected candidate will be part of a team of technical experts who will complete the first phase of this project.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the organisation of a field survey team
  • Responsible for ensuring that you have all the relevant survey timetable, transport plans, questionnaires, stationery and equipment needed for the survey
  • Responsible to ensure that the methodology is followed
  • Responsible for the introduction of the team and the survey to the head of the village on arrival
  • Responsible for the liaison with the head of the households and the mothers
  • Ensure that the questionnaires are completed correctly
  • Ensure that the correct data is collected
  • Responsible for the team's equipment
  • Ensure that the equipment is prepared the night before the following days departure
  • Ensure that the team leave for the survey promptly each day Responsible for reporting all problems/difficulties/questions to the Survey Coordinator
  • Ensure that there is drinking water in the vehicle and that it is replenished each day
  • Responsible for the submission of the completed questionnaires to the Survey Coordinator at the end of each week.

    Qualifications/Experience/Language:

  • Bachelors degree-level education in surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • At least 5 years experience working on survey implementation
  • Previous experience of managing field teams for multi-indicator surveys in Kenya
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili is mandatory.
