The McPheron lab is performing phylogenetic analayses on tephritid pest species using mitochondrial and microsatellite DNAs.
An individual is being sought to participate in the Pennsylvania State University project to perform various lab activities.
The candidate should be motivated and organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
They should be able to work largely independently.
Salary will range from $22,500 to $29,500 per annum depending on experience and will include benefits.
Minimum qualifications are a B.A.or B.S. in biology (or a related field), and demonstrable experience conducting research in a broadly-defined genetics or molecular biology lab.
The applicant should be familiar with genetic analysis software such as MEGA, DNASP, Arlequin, and PAUP.
Experience with troubleshooting and optimizing molecular biology protocols, and/or those who have previously worked with fruit flies or other small invertebrates is a plus but not required.
