Tax system in European Economy from 13th to 18th centuries - Prato, Italy

To facilitate the participation and stay in Prato of scholars with particular specialization in the subject of the 39th Week of Study, 20 scholarships will be made available and assigned by the Committee to Italian and foreign scholars on the basis of the titles exhibited by the applicants.

Residents of the provinces of Prato, Florence, Lucca, Pistoia will not be awarded scholarships.

The scholarships awarded can be used in one of two ways, which the scholar is required to choose:

a) assignment of a financial grant (€ 250 for Italian scholars, € 300 for those from other countries);

b) hospitality in Prato (starting from the night of Sunday April 22, through the night - included - of Wednesday April 25), and assignment of 9 tickets-meal of value: 10 €.

The candidates are invited to present their applications to: Istituto Internazionale di Storia Economica "F. Datini", via L. Muzzi 38, 59100 PRATO.

Applications, which should be received no later than February 28, 2007, should clearly indicate:

  • the option chosen in case of assignment of the scholarship;

  • an e-mail address where the office of the Institute can communicate with the applicant.

    Each application should also contain the following enclosures:

  • photocopy of the university degree held;

  • curriculum vitae, with the precise indication of the functions currently performed;

  • one or more scientific letters of presentation;

  • examples of any works published or in the process of being published;

  • a program of future personal historical research;

  • other titles pertinent to the request to participate in the Study Week.

    Notice of assignment of the scholarships will be sent to the candidates in writing as soon as the committee has resolved on the matter.

    The winners are required to attend the Week of Study for its entire duration, from April 22th to 26th, 2007.

    Winners who, without a justified reason, should fail to attend the sessions of the entire week will lose all right to the scholarship.
