School of Life & Health Sciences

Six international bursaries of £5,500 per year are available for projects which are located at: http://www.aston.ac.uk/lhs/research/

Applicants are invited from international, non-EU students for Research Scholarships to undertake full-time research leading to a PhD in the School of Life and Health Sciences.

Each Scholarship will provide a bursary of £5,500 per year to successful applicants and will be awarded on the basis of merit.

Please note that all applicants will be expected to guarantee financial support to pay for tuition fees of £10,800 per year (October - September).

Application Requirements

  • Applicants for studentship and bursaries should have or expect a good honours degree (either first class or upper second class) or hold an MSc in a relevant discipline.
  • If you are an International Student, the English language requirements are a minimum score of 600 (250 minimum in computer test) in TOEFL or IELTS, with minimum marks of 5.0 in each section and an overall band of 6.5.
  • Studentships are for three years, subject to a satisfactory progress review at the end of the first year and are available from January.

    Applicants should provide a clear indication on the application form (or in an attached letter or CV) of their specific research interests and the name of the research project for which the application is being made.

    Applicants should also include contact details of at least two (and preferably three) referees who can be contacted in the event of being short listed for interview.

    Early Application Is Strongly Recommended

    The short list for interview and subsequent allocation of studentships will be made on a competitive basis though early application is strongly recommended.

    The Postgraduate Tutor will inform applicants of the outcome of their application as soon as it is known.

    The registration dates for enrolment are:

  • 1 January
  • 1 April
  • 1 July
  • 1 October
