Organizational Unit: United Nations Environment Programme
Duty Station: Nairobi
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will manage the implementation of outputs and activities of the UNEP climate sub-programme and strategy in the division focusing on environmental law, governance and negotiations.
The incumbent will also liaise with other UNEP Divisions and external partners and promote collaboration with Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), relevant UN Bodies, international governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations with several other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Advanced university degree in earth sciences, environmental or social science or a first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A post graduate degree in climate science would be an added advantage.
Work Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the area of environmental project management and climate-related scientific issues, some of which should be in an international organization.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the advertised post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Any other UN language would be an advantage.
Other Skills:
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, internet) are required.
