Home-based where ActionAid has presence with preference for Nairobi or Johannesburg or centres of active conflict networking.
£36,270.00 per annum: basic salary plus benefits on international
terms and conditions
Your ability to support others, showing leadership where necessary, listen and build positive peer
relationships will assist you to work at different levels; internally with the International Emergencies and Conflict Team and with country programmes and externally with donors,
conflict networks, the UN and regional peacekeeping and other aid agencies.
Your knowledge and experience of practice, current thinking and policy on reducing violent conflict and addressing its consequences will help you to keep the conflict network informed of the latest thinking and encourage critical debate and experience sharing.
Your knowledge of international humanitarian sector and
peacekeeping operations- practice, standards, policy trends, funding and coordination systems will help you maintain the evolution of the ActionAid conflict positioning framework
and ensure that ActionAid policy remains relevant and coherent in relation to key debates of the day.
With a demonstrable commitment to women's rights in relation to conflict you will be responsible for ensuring that the synergies of women's rights and conflict work are reflected
throughout conflict policy and practice in ActionAid.
You will act as project manager for the Violence Against
Women work in DRC, Burundi and Sierra Leone and ensure that experience from these programmes is widely
shared across the organisation.
Your understanding of the causes, consequences and dynamics of working in conflict is critical to success.
Experience of the theory and practice of conflict analysis,
fundraising and maintaining donor relationships and networking and communications skills are also essential.
You will have a minimum of three years of
programme design and implementation of relevant conflict programmes.
