School Accountant Job
Our client is a new co-education boarding institution located in the serene plains of Maasailand in Kajiado District.
It will offer both the Kenyan National Curriculum (the 8-4-4 System) and the British National Curriculum to students aged from 12-18 yrs.
It will strive to provide (high) quality education through a broad and balanced curriculum.
The emphasis on both academic and co-curricular activities will aim at developing young men and women who value the culture of excellence and who are able to achieve their full potential in whatever they undertake.
The school will commence in January.
Reporting to: School Principal
Purpose: To manage the overall institution’s Accounting operations
Duties and Responsibilities
Implementing, updating and strengthening the school’s accounting, financial management and administrative procedures and providing constant leadership and coaching to all staff in implementing and maintaining financial controls and procedures.
Managing of the school’s moveable and immovable assets
Coordinating all issues relating to finance that include payment of suppliers and vendors, staff entitlements, statutory requirements and all recurrent running costs of the school
Ensuring the school’s compliance with relevant statutory requirements
Updating the general ledger operations and making all journal entries
Preparation of monthly income and expenditure and related financial statements and financial forecasts.
Carrying out monthly debtors, creditors and bank reconciliations
Leading the process of preparation for and coordination of the annual audit
In liaison with the school principal prepare and manage budgets.
Reconciliation of balance sheets accounts, petty cash payments, and payroll related payables, receivables and deferring of income accounts.
Making computerized entries of various financial details
Ensuring the match of purchase orders and receipts
Ensuring that the checks and drafts are archived and organized in a systematic manner
In charge of payroll account keeping

Ability to work with high precision in all financial preparations
Must have a proven record of integrity
Have excellent negotiating skills
Education and Qualifications
A Business/Commerce related degree with an Accounting option, or CPA V
Proficiency in use of Accounting software like QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge and proficiency of Finance and Accounting principles.
Three years Accounting experience in an educational institution.
