Research Manager, Microbiology, University of Oxford, UK

Applications are invited for the position of Research Manager, Microbiology within the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford.

The post is for a period of 24 months.

The Research Manager will be responsible for developing microbiology within the Department of Earth Sciences reporting to Dr Simon Jackman.

Key tasks will be the management of the Microbiology Laboratory together with the development and management of research projects.

The postholder will also be expected to become involved in the management of a bioremediation training course and knowledge transfer activities as required.

The position is in collaboration with the NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Oxford.

The successful candidate must have a doctorate in environmental microbiology or biochemistry and experience of managing a laboratory and/or research projects together with involvement in training courses.

Experience of writing research grant proposals and supervising students together with developing and managing training courses is desirable but not essential.

The starting salary for the post will be on the University Scale 7 (£25,889 - £31,840 with a discretionary range to £34,793 p.a.)
