Regional Finance Business Partner

Aims:

  • To provide financial business partner support to the Regional Director and Regional management team and enable the region to consistently and effectively manage its performance and financial resources against British Council strategic and business objectives.
  • To constantly monitor for opportunities for the improvement of information and analysis to support important business decisions.
  • The role will become increasingly focused on supporting strategic business decisions and initiatives plus service and demand management activities, as routine reporting tasks are automated and the scope of the accounting hubs broadened.

    Duties:

  • Gathering, analysing and communicating emerging regional information and support needs and opportunities
  • Communicating and agreeing central decisions on changes of scope of decision support services to Region and Country Directors
  • Agreeing required inbound and outbound performance levels
  • Monitoring and recording actual level of performance achieved
  • Recording, reporting and investigating service issues
  • Working with central Decision Support to resolve service issues
  • Agreeing plan to remediate performance shortfalls This post requires extensive travel between the countries within Sub Saharian Africa

  • Desire to understand the British Council, its strategy and objectives, and how this is to be delivered operationally.
  • Able to win the trust of operational leaders.
  • Demonstrates desire to improve the quality of services provided and seeks to understand the needs of the business.
  • Self-assured.
  • Recognises the importance of clear governance and accountabilities.
  • Shows evidence of being able to apply communications methods appropriately and effectively to convey financial information to non-financial staff.
  • Able to interpret the financial impact of business decisions
  • English speaker
  • Recognised International Accoutning Qualification desirable and/or relevant decision-support experience,demonstrating the ability to guide others in the application of decision-support methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of / exposure to compex ERP environment (SAP preferred).
  • Experience of working with remote Shared Services Model
  • Experience in the use of SAP Business Intelligence, Business Objects, Hyperion, Cognos or other similar tools.
  • Exposure to complex multi currency, multi territory environment, preferably of a corporate HQ or regional HQ environment
  • Experience of working in matrix management environment.
