1. Education

  • A post graduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Development economics and other field directly related to conservation and development

  • 10 or more years of proven field experience Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent and demonstrable leadership and management skills, with extensive experience of applied conservation in Africa.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in management and administration of projects or basic training in business administration.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to represent AWF at the highest levels of government and donor agencies.
  • Genuine respect for the skills and perspectives of communities, partner organizations and the private sector.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize and write project documents and reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide group of collaborators, including proactive sharing of information and reporting.
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Ability to manage and direct teams
  • Ability and willingness to fulfill AWF administrative and accounting procedures
  • Commitment to AWF and its mission
