Qualifications and Experience:
Demonstrated ability and experience of working in the context of forced migration and human rights
Willingness to work and travel throughout the region and live in simple conditions
Demonstrated Ability to train others and work in a multicultural environment
Degree in journalism, social sciences or international relations
Experience working with media/journalism, preferably in East Africa
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience in writing and documentation
Ability to write in different styles: press releases, analytical reports, news stories, features, and other articles
Demonstrable high level analytical and strategic thinking skills
Demonstrated ability in networking, diplomacy and negotiation
Commitment to the aims and principles of JRS.
In particular, a good understanding of the JRS mission and the ability to ensure this mission is envisioned in all the work.
Ability to take digital photos and video footage, and work with digital media.
Fluency languages spoken in the region, e.g. Swahili
