Farm Engineer

REA Vipingo Plantations Limited, a company listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange, is the largest sisal fibre producer in Africa and operates large scale estates in Kenya and Tanzania.

REA Vipingo wishes to recruit a Farm Engineer to be resident on one of its three Tanzania estates.

The estate is situated on the main road just to the south of Tanga and is a well established unit with its own workshops, stores, labour camps, water supply and other infrastructure.

The Farm Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of all estate equipment, including sisal processing machinery, tractors, caterpillar equipment and vehicles as well as housing, water supply and other infrastructure.

The Farm Engineer reports directly to the Tanzania Group Chief Technical Manager.

  • While previous experience of sisal is not essential, the Farm Engineer must have management experience and be able to lead and motivate a team of skilled artisans and work within an organized structure.
  • Candidates should ideally have a recognized technical or engineering qualification in agricultural or mechanical engineering, and should have not less than five years management experience in an agricultural or general mechanical engineering environment.
  • The ability to speak Kiswahili is a distinct advantage.
