Advanced University degree in Education, Economics, or Social Sciences. Preference will be give to candidates with a strong economics background.
At least 5 years experience in project management, preferably dealing with funds in excess of $5 million.
Demonstrated competence in coordination and implementation, preferably in large scale education programmes.
Strong knowledge of decentralized approaches in education, particularly block grants and vouchers.
Experience of working with Ministries of Education and CDD approaches.
Knowledge of alternative delivery approaches in education – notably hybrid/expanded Qur'anic education, radio education and mobile schooling.
Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and girls' education.
Strong knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation of programmes in developing countries.
Previous experience in post-conflict countries.
Diplomacy, good organizational skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines and in cross-cultural environments.
Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills in English.
Knowledge of Somali language will be an advantage.
Timeframe:
A total of 12 months from the date of commencement with the likelihood of extension of a further 12 months dependent on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Duty Station:
The position will be based in Nairobi, with regular travel to the three zones of Somalia.
