Project Officer, Food and Agriculture Organization - Sudan

As this is a National Project Officer position, this vacancy is only open to male and female candidates with Sudanese nationality. Applications from qualified women candidates are encouraged.

Minimum requirements:

- University degree in agriculture, animal science, agricultural extension, rural development or related field

- Seven years relevant experience in rural development projects including strengthening institutions, and particularly in the establishment of rural advisory service providers. Experience in Africa and some working familiarity of the region.

- Working knowledge of English

- Sudanese nationality

Selection criteria:

- Extent of relevant experience in capacity building and development of rural institutions and demand-driven extension services within the agricultural sector in developing countries

- Extent and depth of knowledge and experience in agriculture and rural development

- Extent of relevant knowledge and experience in design and implementation of micro-projects on rural development projects

- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of annual and multi-year plans and budgets and ability to plan, organize, implement and report on work

- Demonstrated ability to liaise with UN agencies, NGOs and government ministries

- Good oral and written communication and presentation skills in English

Remuneration

- Level NOC carries a UNDP/Sudan scale with salary per year (inclusive of a variable element for post adjustment) from US$ 45,175 to US$ 70,275
