Project Manager, UNDP - Sudan

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), invites applications for the post of Project Manager.

The suitable candidate is fluent to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and in oral form.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:


Corporate Competencies:

- Demonstrates integrity by modeling the UN's values and ethical standards

- Displays cultural, gender, religion, race nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability

Functional Competencies:

- Demonstrated experience working with results frameworks and performance monitoring

- Demonstrated experience in working with global, regional and country partners and other agencies, experts and host country staff in planning of monitoring activities

- Statistical skills for analyzing data and ensuring program design has statistical rigor

- Ability to organize and lead project-wide activities

- Willingness to learn from and consult with colleagues for inputs and information sharing

- In-depth knowledge of humanitarian and recovery/development issues

- Ability to advocate and provide advice

- Demonstrated experience in negotiating technical priorities and developing tools to define and focus on priority outcomes

- Knowledge and understanding of Sudan situation and its complexity preferred but not an absolute requirement

Management and Leadership:

- Ability to lead implementation of new systems (monitoring and evaluation area), and affect attitudinal change

- Focuses on impact and result for the client and responds positively to feedback

- Proactive approach to work, good follow-up and follow-through


- Advanced University Degree in Economics, Rural Development, Agriculture, Business Administration or other relevant discipline ;

- Minimum 7 years of professional working experience in livelihoods or economic recovery ;

- Familiarity with UNDP rules and procedures would be an advantage;

- Ability to assess, supervise and co-ordinate technical work in livelihoods;

- Experience in conducting needs assessments and programme design;

- Strong analytical skills ;

- Ability to function independently and effectively in a challenging conflict environment ;

- Excellent networking, interpersonal and teambuilding skills ;

- Strong leadership capacities to guide a multi-cultural team in difficult circumstances ;

- Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to draft/edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas in a clear, concise style;

- Experience in project and team management;

- Experience in results-based management, monitoring and evaluation;

- Fluent to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and in oral form; and

- Good knowledge of the country and region of assignment, including the political, economic and social dimensions.
