Project Manager Education South - Sudan

The Education Project Manager (PM) shall work under the direct supervision of the Program Director/Country Director in South Sudan.

NRC Sudan has pending education proposals with several other donors.

If successful these programmes would also fall under the responsibility of the education PM.


  • Overall professional responsibility for all components of South Sudan education projects, including planning and implementation of projects in accordance with plans and approved budget
  • Under guidance and in cooperation with the Finance and Administration Manager, be responsible for keeping budget and expenditure in accordance with plans
  • Contribute to the development of NRC’s general country strategy, action plan and activities plan
  • Identify, hire, manage and follow up (including necessary capacity building) of local staff for the education project
  • Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements of the education project and project materials based on observations and discussions with the education staff and the Program /Country director, as well as the NRC education adviser
  • Prepare monthly reports to the Program/ Country Director
  • Ensure good cooperation and exchange of information with partners and other relevant external actors
  • Prepare applications and budgets for submission to donors
  • Prepare reports to the donors in accordance with agreements applicable to the individual grant
  • Consider engaging local or international experts for certain aspects of the training as relevant


  • Higher degree in Education or related fields of study, with minimum three years field experience with education projects.
  • Working experience from rural context, preferably in Africa, implementing projects in cooperating with local communities.
  • Project Management experience and substantial budget management skills
  • Experience in staff management, and ogistics/administration management
  • Experience in coordination and advocacy work
  • Significant understanding of operations in complex cultural and post war contexts, where security may be an issue
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Computer skills
  • Proven skills in report/proposal writing
  • Holder of a valid international driver's license
  • Fluency in the English language. Knowledge of Sudan and Arabic is a asset.
