Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the project for the fulfillment of project objectives.
He/She will also liaise with other Adaptation Projects in the African Region and co-ordinate closely with, the Project Steering Committee, the participating host Government Ministries, as well as the UNDP environment programme office.
He/she will undertake yearly operational planning and provide guidance on its day-to-day implementation.
In doing this he/she shall be responsible for the effective and efficient implementation of the project activities to achieve stated objectives and for all substantive and managerial reports from the Project.
In this respect, she/he will interact closely with the UNDP Environment and Energy Programme Unit.
Ensure that baseline information needed to measure project impact is gathered in the inception phase of the project;
Prepare and ensure timely submission of quarterly financial consolidated reports, quarterly consolidated progress reports, annual project implementation review reports, and other monitoring reports as may be required by UNDP;
Supervise and coordinate the work of consultants and sub-contractors;
Mobilize all project inputs in accordance with UNDP procedures for nationally executed projects;
Post-graduate degree in natural or social sciences or related subject.
At least five years experience in a leadership role.
Experience in climate change issues pertinent to the Republic of Mauritius is desirable.
Knowledge of climate change and adaptation issues.
Familiarity with GEF/UNDP guidelines/procedures including logical framework and project management is desirable.
Fluency in both written and oral English and French.
