For the position as Programme Manager – Head of Office, The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced manager who can facilitate the implementation of Danish Refugee Council’s programme in Uganda’s West Nile Region.
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been present in West Nile, Uganda since 1999 and aim is promoting durable solutions to IDPs, refugees and hosting communities within the region, with a focus on community development, livelihood assistance and information delivery activities.
The Programme Manager – Head of Office will:
Manage the development and implementation of DRC’s activities in West Nile
Be responsible for the financial planning, daily administration and budget management of all projects attached to the West Nile Office in accordance with the financial and administrative procedures.
Draft and coordinate all monitoring and progress reports on activities related to the West Nile Region
Contribute to the development and strategy of DRC’s overall activities in Uganda, specifically in West Nile Region
Be responsible for fundraising related to the West Nile Region
Be responsible for human resources management in West Nile Region
Provide technical supervision and advice to all DRC staff in West Nile Region when required
Co-ordinate with local and national state and non-state actors, donors and national and international NGOs involved in work relating to the refugees, IDPs and host communities in Uganda, particular in West Nile Region.
Carry out advocacy activities benefiting refugees, IDPs and host communities in the West Nile Region.
Represent DRC during meetings in West Nile with UN agencies, NGOs, local government and other relevant stakeholders.
The Programme Manager – Head of Office will refer to the DRC Country Director.
Skills and Qualifications:
A highly qualified and dynamic person to join our team in Uganda.
Be able to effectively manage capacity development projects, with an ability to communicate clearly with beneficiaries and local staff.
Minimum 5 years protection related experience, including at least 3 years working with an operational UN agency, an intergovernmental organisation or a major international NGO in the field of IDPs/refugee protection and assistance.
Solid knowledge and experience working with capacity development of local and national governmental structures
Solid knowledge and experience working in community development, agriculture and information delivery related training.
Substantial experience in project management, including budget expenditure management, donor relations, staff supervision, and monitoring and evaluation
Fluency in written and spoken English
