MSc and Ph.D Scholarships in Applied Chemistry and Physics

Kenyatta University (KU) is a premier institute in the region whose programmes are offered across 15 academic schools including the Digital School of Virtual and Open Learning.

Kenyatta University has a vibrant Graduate School and a number of different Academic Schools, including School of Pure and Applied Sciences (SPAS), which trains leading scientists in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics & Actuarial Sciences, Plant Sciences, Microbiology, Zoological Sciences and Biochemistry & Biotechnology.

Application for Masters and Ph.D Scholarships

Following a successful bid for Post Graduate training in Engineering programs by African Development Bank (ADB), through Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, KU has been mandated to train Academic Staff in Public Universities and Public Technical Institutions for capacity building.

The training is also open to Public Sector Employees from relevant Government Ministries and State Corporations to ensure a critical mass of a ‘qualified pool’ that can serve institutions for Higher Learning.

In view of this, KU would like to invite applications for scholarships in the categories outlined below.

The upper age limit is 40 years for Masters Degree Programmes and 45 years for PhD programmes.

Female candidates will however be considered with five (5) years above the maximum age.

The scholarship will only cover tuition fees, access to computer software and relevant resource materials including journals and research fees only.

Collaborative Teaching / Supervision

KU will offer the Ph.D and Masters Program in Applied Chemistry and Physics in collaboration with renowned Professors from:

University of Johannesburg, South Africa; Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, Germany; Helmholtz Institute of Radiation Physics, Germany; Helmholtz Zentrum Muenchen German Research Center for Environmental Health; Universitaet Siegen, Germany; PET Instrumentation and Neuroimaging laboratory, Netherlands; Institut fuer Experimentelle Kern Physik (IEKP), Germany; Florida Institute of Technology, USA; South African Astronomical Observatory, South Africa; University of South Africa, South Africa; IOWA State University, USA; Nagasaki University, Japan; University of Surrey, UK; University of Nottingham, UK; China University of Petroleum- Beijing, China; and University of Nizwa, Pakistan;.

In addition, KU will collaborate with key local Industries and Research Institutions that will provide field experience including International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), KENGEN, Sollatek Electronics Ltd, Orion East Africa Ltd, Mabati Rolling Mills Ltd and Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).
