PhD Studentships Chemistry, University of Leicester - Uk

Department of Chemistry University of Leicester - Uk

Applications are invited for PhD studentships, starting October 2006. The Research School in the Chemistry Department has an international profile, and is supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure.

We can provide a complete range of equipment, facilities and technical expertise to support your studies. A £2.2m refurbishment of the Chemistry Building has recently been completed (2003), with brand new laboratories throughout the Department.

Biological Chemistry

biocatalysis and biotransformations; computational chemistry; medicinal chemistry and drug design; protein engineering; target synthesis.

Fluorine Chemistry

inorganic and organic synthesis of bioactive and catalytic compounds.

Green Chemistry

environmentally sustainable solvents; atom efficient and polymerisation catalysis.

Molecular Properties

atmospheric chemistry; electrochemistry; free radicals in solution; gas phase dynamics; interfaces; laster spectroscopy. Candidates should have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent).
