PhD Scholarship in Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology

International Scholarships » Studentships for PhD Students » Educational Studentships

A studentship is available in the Centre for Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) in The University of Queensland’s Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN).

CBE is an integral part of the new A$70 million AIBN, and provides a multi-disciplinary research environment that brings together scientists and engineers who have the shared aim of defining the knowledge and processes needed to speed the delivery of complex biological products to society.

The role

This is a unique opportunity for international exposure at the leading edge of a rapidly developing field of research.

The project focuses on mathematically modelling and experimentally understanding Terahertz (THz) vibrations in protein pharmaceuticals, and in particular new vaccines made from virus-like particles.

The project links to the national THz facility at The University of Adelaide and the international centres of excellence in vaccine production and THz analysis.

The successful applicant will have a unique opportunity for international exposure at the leading edge of a rapidly developing field of research.

The person

Candidates must have at least an upper class 2 Honours in an appropriate quantitative discipline, preferably with formal training in physical chemistry or chemical and biomolecular engineering.

Remuneration

A scholarship at the APA rate will be paid to the successful applicant.

A top-up scholarship may be payable to an appropriately qualified candidate.
