PhD Positions in Robust Blood Pressure Monitoring System, University of Ottawa, Canada

Doctoral (Ph.D.) positions are available to work on the project Robust Blood Pressure Monitoring System at University of Ottawa, Canada.

The project is funded by Ontario Centres of Excellence and Biosign Technologies Inc.

The project will involve, but it is not restricted to, the following:

1. Development of signal processing algorithms

  • for artifact detection and elimination,
  • for hypertension detection based on the linear and non-linear models of the hemodynamic system

    2. Development of measurement theory for

  • finding of the appropriate sampling frequency and the rate of blood pressure acquisitions,
  • design and test a standard for the acquisition of biological parameters in accord with the measurement theory and IEEE, ANSI and ISO related standards.

Experience in measurement theory, signal processing and/or mathematical modeling is needed.

For applicants with signal processing background, knowledge of source separation and/or statistical signal processing (particle filters) is an advantage.

Applicants must possess Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related field obtained in the past three years, with evidence of research productivity.

Good oral and written English skills are required.

This position is open to citizens of any nationality.

Applications will be reviewed from July 15th, onwards.
