PhD Position for Candidates with a MSc in Mathematics, Physics or Related Fields

A three year position as research fellow (PhD position) is available within the project ”Reservoir characterization using ensemble Kalman filter” at University of Bergen.

The main objective of the project is to develop methodology for petroleum reservoir characterization.

Possible research tasks include:

  • improve the uncertainty quantification provided by the ensemble Kalman filter
  • develop methodology for history matching in cases with complex geology
  • increase the understanding of the effect of model error.

    The successful applicant will spend one year as visiting scholar at the University of Oklahoma or the University of Tulsa.

    Skills:

    The fellowship is open to candidates with a strong background in Mathematics, Physics or related fields. Candidates must hold a MSc degree or equivalent.

    Excellent academic track record, strong IT skills, familiarity with Unix/Linux and programming experience beyond Visual Basic are desired.
