Pediatric Nurse Mentors, Ethiopia - Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI)

Location: Ethiopia - Addis Ababa but primarily in the field

The Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) is seeking a Clinical Mentor for Pediatric HIV/AIDS who will support the Ethiopia’s Pediatrics Program by mentoring selected sites on a full-time basis. The Clinical Mentor will advise and work with the hospitals/health centers to implement and support the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical mentoring to HIV treatment teams and other relevant healthcare workers at selected health care facilities
  • Provide clinical advice and assistance in initiating and improving ongoing clinical care for patients with HIV/AIDS or related conditions
  • Provide advice and assistance in scaling up hospital systems to manage HIV/AIDS Testing, Treatment and Care services with a focus on Pediatrics
  • Improve referral linkages among the departments within the facility and satellite facilities
  • To encourage community-based support to ensure proper adherence and psychosocial support of patients
  • To assist in the development of initial and continued medical education for all clinic staff, including formal didactic training, clinical mentorship and ward round management
  • Provide ongoing follow up support to sites
  • Perform other duties as required.

    Experience:

  • A university degree with a focus in clinical care
    nursing
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience; experience in HIV/AIDS treatment and care required
  • Good bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
  • Teaching or training experience an added advantage
  • Experience communicating with Government and other high-level officials strongly preferred
  • Experience providing administrative support

    Skills:

    - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including cross-cultural communication
    - Strong knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
    - Ability to communicate perfectly both orally and in written Amharic
    - Ability to communicate perfectly both orally and in written English
    - Strong organizational skills; ability to follow up on multiple projects simultaneously
