We support individuals and organizations in their efforts to bring about change and innovation for sustainable development.

PICO Eastern Africa is a not-for-profit organization, with its offices situated in Nairobi, Kenya.

We have a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience and expertise in their respective fields in the broad area of organizational development – diagnosis, learning processes, mentoring, coaching and organizational change design and management

They seek to recruit a:

1. Research Officer


The Project Officer will be responsible for the following:

Day to day management of the project, including:

  • Taking lead role in the organization of workshops, meetings and other processes required as part of PICOTEAM role as lead facilitator of the project
  • Undertaking electronic convening and moderation of discussions on specific topics/issues as may be required
  • Proactively handling communication with project stakeholders
  • Preparing project reports to donors and other stakeholders as may be required
  • Contribute to the collection, collation and synthesis of data or information (e.g. on best practices) that may be required as part of the project – as input into the project or output from activities of the project.
  • Contribute to the development and nurturing of local learning agenda:
  • Visit projects and understand contexts, opportunities and challenges
  • Make intellectual input into project content and processes
  • Perform other duties as may be required to deliver on the objectives of the project


  • A PhD degree in marketing or equivalent; or relevant MSc degree with postgraduate training in a markets-related field
  • Excellent understanding of smallholder agriculture in Africa
  • At least 7 years experience working with grass-roots organizations, and track record in participatory processes aimed at empowering communities and local organizations in addressing market access challenges
  • Ability to work in multi-institutional, multi-cultural contexts
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with local organizations and farmers
  • Excellent computer skills (including MS office applications).
