African Journals OnLine (AJOL) is an internationally used, well-established, dynamic and growing Non Profit Organisation based in Grahamstown, South Africa.

AJOL is currently looking for a qualified, proficient and enthusiastic PHP developer to join our team.

Both front and back end development is involved, along with interesting plug-in programming for mature, globally-used open source software.

A minimum of 4 years work experience with demonstrable skills in the following are required:

  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • HTML and XML
  • Apache
  • Linux

    If capacity to work without supervision can be proven, there may be scope to work remotely.

    Ability to function both independently and as a team player, ability to work closely with international partners, excellent communication and conceptualisation skills accompanied by elegant scripting, a positive approach, belief in AJOL's goals and willingness to travel occasionally are important.
