Gender Based Violence Project Manager

Job description

  • Professional development of GBV staff through regular coaching, mentoring, constructive assessment of performance/feedback and coordination of training/capacity building activities
  • Lead the design of new proposals, inc. budget development. Actively seek funding for expanding the GBV programming
  • Ensure continuous improvement of program quality
  • Promote continuous learning through analysis of lessons learned/best practices, and share knowledge with NRC headquarters/country offices
  • Involve actively project beneficiaries/stakeholders in all stages of the project cycle
  • Represent NRC at Gender sector meetings at the national and county level and in national/international forums. Coordinate NRC's GBV project activities with relevant actors - Lead NRC's advocacy efforts for promoting women's rights
  • Oversee capacity building support to project partners
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations
  • Manage and monitor project finances and budgets
  • Produce quality narrative reports, which comply with NRC/donor standards and requirements
  • Establish baseline for GBV project(s) when necessary; assess progress toward project indicators/targets and ensure that reliable qualitative/quantitative data is collected

    Qualifications

  • Higher degree in a social science or relevant field (social work, gender/women's studies, international law)
  • Solid field experience, managing SGBV projects in challenging environments (conflict/emergency/post conflict)
  • Solid experience in staff management
  • Experience in capacity building and training of national staff
  • Solid experience in finance and managing budgets
  • Experience in logistics/administration
  • Experience in coordination and advocacy work
  • Sound understanding of GBV concepts
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Political and cultural awareness and experience of working where insecurity is a major issue
  • Sound computer skills
  • Proven skills in report/proposal writing
  • Holder of a valid international driver's license

    NRC offer

  • Commencement: June 2013
  • Contract period: 12 months
  • Salary/benefits: According to NRC's general directions, and free housing of moderate standard. Please note that tax fees may occur for some countries

    Duty Station: Monrovia, with frequent deployment to various Field Locations. Liberia is a 'non-family duty station'. The place of residence in Monrovia/Field Locations is usually quiet and safe, and foreigners can normally move around without harassment or danger, provided they show respect for local culture. Recreational and social facilities are limited. Shared accommodation of modest standard is provided
