Finance Manager

MAG is responding to the emergency in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo after a blast at an ammunition site on the 4th March 2012 left more than 200 dead and 1,500 injured.

We are working with the Congolese authorities to deal with the deadly fall out of the recent explosion that left homes and streets littered with hazardous items.

We have been awarded significant emergency funds to allow us to respond quickly to the critical situation.

We are now looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to join our emergency response team in country.

Reporting to the Country Director, the Finance Manager will have overall responsibility for the financial management of the project, including control of expenditure, budgeting, cash flow management and administration.

Robust and efficient Financial Management is essential to the implementation of MAG's rapid response and life sustaining work.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for implementing and improving financial management and internal control systems and financial planning.

The successful candidate will need experience of working in a similar context, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will need to be able to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders in French and English, with diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.

MAG is able to offer a 6 months contract, with possible extension subject to further funding. The salary for this position is £26,586 - £29,923 per annum plus a per diem of circa US $14,000pa.

MAG will also provide accommodation, three international leave flights per year and insurance, amongst many other benefits.closing date of Monday 26 March 2012.

Country Director

The successful candidate will need excellent project management skills with experience of working in a similar context, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will need to be able to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders in French and English.

This is a high-profile position that will require excellent liaison and diplomacy skills.

The Country Director will be based in Congo Brazzaville.The successful candidate will need to be fluent in both French and English.

Benefits Country Directors are rewarded with generous benefits, both financial and non-financial:

  • Salary: The total salary package for this position is £37,977 - £41,616* GBP per annum (equivalent to circa $59,900 - $65,600 USD*) including basic salary and per diem. *Please see the general information document below for terms and conditions related to this.
  • Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
  • Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year, with six weeks annual leave Your entitlement to annual leave also rises with service.
  • Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year
  • Career Development: Depending on funding and candidate preference, this position can be offered on either a fixed term or permanent basis. Where possible, MAG offers global open-contracts to interested candidates, offering job security and a long term career with opportunities to work in different MAG programmes.
  • Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; death by natural causes insurance; and access to 24-hour medical assistance, including evacuation and repatriation.
