Medical Scholarships for WomenWomen in Thoracic Surgery(WTS) Scholarship applicants must be a woman medical student or resident physician in training in an accredited thoracic surgery program OR a resident in an accredited general surgery program who is interested in a career in thoracic/cardiac surgery. International residents are eligible to apply. The scholarship covers meeting registration fees, hotel accommodations, and up to $500 in related travel expenses to be used to attend the STS 46th Annual Meeting in January. Scholarship recipients will receive their award certificate at the Women in Thoracic Surgery(WTS) Membership Meeting on Jan. 25, in Fort Lauderdale. If you know a resident physician in training at an accredited thoracic surgery or general surgery program, or a medical student, who is interested in a career in thoracic or cardiac surgery, please encourage them to apply. The Women in Thoracic Surgery(WTS) scholarship program has awarded $23,500 and 18 scholarships since 2005. In awarding this annual Women in Thoracic Surgery(WTS) scholarship, Women in Thoracic Surgery is fulfilling one of its stated missions "to enhance the education of women thoracic surgeons."
