MEDAIR is a Christian humanitarian international NGO founded in 1988, with its HQ in Switzerland.MEDAIR’s mission is to respond to human suffering in emergency and disaster situations by implementing multi-sectoral relief and rehabilitation projects, in a compassionate and serving attitude inspired by its Christian ethos. Nutritionist Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons to fill the position mentioned above. Based in South Sudan, Medair is looking for a Nutritionist for its Emergency Response Programme. Responsibilities include: Assessment of nutrition needs in remote areas, making recommendations and coming up with intervention strategiesImplementing and interpreting nutrition surveys and assessmentsCoordinating and carrying out nutrition responses regarding nutritional emergenciesChecking inventory to ensure accurate nutritional inventory as well as preparation of nutritional part of field trip, check that inventories are kept in field locationsEnsuring adequate stocks and timely requests of nutrition equipmentEnsuring timely nutritional equipment supplies requests are submitted to the Project ManagerResponsible for diagnosis of nutrition patients and ensuring the correct treatment is prescribedProvision and coordination of appropriate nutritional education at household and clinic levelsReview assessment and management of malnutrition in health facilitiesAssist with capacity building of County Health Departments in managing and supervising nutrition programmesTraining and supervision of local MoH health staff or staff from partner NGO using the GoSS MoH guidelinesGiving input to Medair’s and South Sudan nutrition policy and guidelinesEnsuring accurate and timely reporting of activitiesLiaison with partner NGO’s, local authorities and MoHManagement of local staff.The suitable candidate should have the following attributes: Bsc degree in Nutrition or related fieldAt least 2 years working experience in nutrition in humanitarian relief programmes and South SudanExcellent communication skills (oral & written), Fluent in English, Arabic an added advantageHigh sense of responsibility, good organisational, coordination and time management skillsFlexibility and willingness to work extended and irregular hours due to emergenciesTeam player and able to work in a diverse cultural environmentExcellent computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel, computer programmes for statistic analysis.Applications to be submitted to jobs-sds [at] southsudan.medair.org Deadline for applications is 7th May, 2012 Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted
