The studentships are funded by the Wellcome Trust and will be available as of September.
Applicants for the MA studentships require a good (predicted) undergraduate degree result (1st or high 2:1) in a subject within the Humanities and Social Sciences (e.g. History, Classics, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Archaeology, Psychology, Sociology, etc.). Candidates with a medical background are also encouraged to apply, and the studentship is open to current stage 4 Newcastle medical students who have opted to take the MA in the History of Medicine as an intercalated degree after stage 4 MBBS.
Applications from overseas candidates with equivalent qualifications are also very welcome.
In order to be considered for this competition, applicants must first;
(i) have secured a place in the programme by completing and submitting the University’s online postgraduate application form for the MA in the History of Medicine and receiving written comfirmation of acceptance to the programme.
Once this is the case, applicants are asked to send
(ii) a covering letter, (iii) your CV and details about your academic qualifications, (iv), the names of two referees, and
