The London Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine invites applications for two studentships for the following academic year.
The London Centre offers two taught programmes: the long-established MSc in History of Science, Medicine and Technology, and the new MSc in Science, Technology, Medicine and Society.
1. The Hans Rausing award is suitable for MSc applicants primarily interested in the history of science and technology and who intend to pursue a PhD at Imperial College.
It is open to overseas candidates, and covers the cost of fees for one year and a stipend equivalent to that offered by the Arts and Humanities Research Board.
Subject to outstanding performance on the MSc programme, the successful candidate will receive funding to pursue a 3-year PhD at Imperial College, although they will also be expected to apply for funding from other UK/EU or overseas funding bodies.
2. The Wellcome Trust award is suitable for MSc applicants primarily interested in the history of medicine as a topic and as an academic career.
Overseas candidates are eligible to apply.
The value of the award covers fees (at the home rate only) and a stipend.
Candidates for both awards should possess an exceptional academic track record and outstanding research potential.
They should submit an official university application for the MSc programme no later than 30 April.
